Day 23: 25 February 2013

Welcome to Sprint #4! In this sprint, I’ll be doing some cleanup of the battle screen, and hopefully a lot more useful features in the shipyard. Now… where to start…

20:42: It looks like I’m going to spend a little time building a few more types of things to add to the game. I’m going to add another hull piece, a larger gun, an anti-aircraft gun, and radar. Oh, by the way, in case you were wondering, I’m not building these models completely from scratch. There’s a lot of work to do in cleaning them up and getting them into a form that I need, but I don’t have to build every single detail.

I wonder if I’ll be able to completely finish these four new pieces tonight or not?

22:20: It’s a little bit of a miracle, but I was able to get these additional parts created. I kept tweaking the size of the new hull building block. Two things about that. First, I think eventually, the player needs to be able to scale this type of piece in their game. Second, it would probably be better for me to set up a default size in the code, which I could then tweak, rather than having to go back to the 3D modeling program to change the size.

Anyway, here’s a picture showing these new types of objects to stick on your ship.
